What We Test For in Our Eye Exams

Setting yourself up with a Comprehensive eye exam each year will ensure you’re off to the best possible foot for whatever life brings.

Our eye exams test for:

Our optometrists will conduct vision assessments using a lettered eye chart.
Our optometrists will have you look straight ahead while the doctor moves their hand left and right until the you can’t see the hand.
We’ll assess your vision with our flashing dots test. This test allows our optometrists to measure how well your eyes work together.
The optometrist will ask you to follow an object with your eyes, so our optometrists can assess eye movement.
The eye doctor will briefly shine a light in your eye to test your pupil reaction.
The optometrist will examine all parts of the eye: eyelids, eye area, cornea, iris, and lens, to look for areas of abnormality.

What To Expect During Your Eye Exam

We recommend budgeting about 45 minutes to one hour for your exam.
The eye exam step-by-step breakdown
Our optometrists will check each eye while you follow light simulations. You may be asked to identify certain images and letters on a computerized eye chart.

Our optometrists may use an ophthalmoscope to look at the eye’s inner structures for eye alignment and vision testing.

You may be given eye drops. Once they take effect, your optometrist take a look inside the eye’s structures and assess your eye health.
The optometrist will discuss next steps, and discuss if glasses, contact lenses, or additional eye care is needed to correct common vision issues.
